Abdi Siad for Madison Council District 7
WORKING TOWARDS A MADISON FOR ALL
Meet Abdi Siad
I’ve proudly called Madison home for over 35 years, building a life deeply rooted in community with my wife, Nasra Wehelie, and our four children. With a Masters's in Business Administration, a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, and over 25 years of experience in IT, I have a strong background in problem-solving and collaboration.
I’m running for District 7 Alder to address the issues that matter most—affordable housing, public safety, retaining a strong business workforce, and creating equitable opportunities for all residents. I hope to earn your trust and vote on April 1st.

Madison Common Council District 7
Madison Common Council District 7 is a vibrant and diverse area located on Madison’s west side, home to approximately 15,000 residents. The district encompasses a mix of residential neighborhoods, parks, schools, and local businesses, making it a dynamic community where people live, work, and thrive.
Known for its engaged residents, District 7 reflects Madison's values of inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability. It plays a vital role in shaping the city’s policies and future.

Priorities for District 7

Affordable Housing
Affordable housing is essential to ensuring families and individuals have access to safe, secure homes without financial strain. I will work to increase affordable housing options, protect existing housing, and address inequities that impact marginalized communities.

Public Safety and Community Well-Being
Public safety requires a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of crime while building trust between residents and safety agencies. I will invest in community policing, mental health crisis response, and programs that support youth and families.

Transportation & Sustainability
With District 7’s continued growth, a sustainable and efficient transportation system is essential to improving mobility, reducing congestion, and addressing environmental concerns. Investing in well-planned infrastructure and sustainability initiatives will enhance residents’ quality of life while lowering the city’s carbon footprint.

Economic & Workforce Development
Strong local businesses are the foundation of a thriving community. I will champion initiatives that support small businesses, create good-paying jobs, and retain diverse talent in Madison.

Strengthening Community Engagement
Building stronger relationships between residents and city leadership requires transparency, accountability, and collaboration. I am committed to ensuring that all residents have a voice in local decision-making and fostering inclusive governance.
